Ellen Feingold Challenge

In September of 2006, Hearth Founder and Board Member Ellen Feingold presented us with a challenge. In an extremely generous offer, Ellen agreed to match incoming donations made before December 15, 2006 dollar for dollar, up to $10,000.

We Met the Challenge - and More!

UPDATE:

We did it!  Thanks to generous donations by Wainwright Bank and others, we not only met the goal - we exceeded it!

The Challenge

Ellen is so proud of Hearth’s accomplishments since its humble beginnings in 1992. Over 800 elders now have safe, permanent housing, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Hearth community. Hearth received national recognition of its achievements earlier this spring when the National Alliance to End Homelessness presented us with the 2006 Leadership Award at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Like everyone at Hearth, Ellen was extremely proud. Ellen’s $10,000 challenge gift is her celebration of how far Hearth has come since its founding.

Please join us in celebrating not only this prestigious national honor, but also the great achievements we accomplish everyday.

One such example is Donnie, an Outreach client, who, while shopping with his case worker for necessities for his new apartment, confided that he had never before purchased a light bulb. The act of buying a light bulb, something we do without thinking, was a big event for Donnie. It symbolized a new chapter in his life: he had a home.

Ellen’s challenge offers a unique opportunity. Between now and December 15, your donation will go twice as far to help frail elders find permanent homes. Whether you can send us $50 or $100 or $1000, your gift will make a tremendous difference.

Together, we can bring more elders, like Donnie, home for good.
